Getting Started with your Raspberry Pi

You may wonder where to begin with the Raspberry Pi. We decided to introduce the device to the whole class before giving each pair a Pi to work with.

In every classroom at Pelham High School we have an iPad that serves as a document camera and an Interactive Board. To be able to work with a group of students we have utilized these document camera stands with the iPads and the Stage App. The Stage App allows the teachers to be able to write live on top of the image. The Raspberry Pi can be turned in all directions so that students can see every facet.

Our favorite place to begin learning about Raspberry Pi is their official site:
http://www.raspberrypi.org/ Here you can find lesson plans to use in the classroom.

Geek Gurl Diaries are also an amazing resource to begin learning. Subscribe to Carrie's channel. She was a computer classroom teacher but she now works for the Raspberry Pi Foundation. After meeting her in London at the Google Teacher Academy, I immediately ordered her fabulous new book, Adventures in Raspberry Pi.

Finally, here are some of the books we have purchased with the grant funds to assist our students with their projects:
